Statement by the Ethics & Disciplinary Commission Re: GM Daniel Naroditsky

On behalf of the EDC, I extend our deepest condolences on the untimely passing of GM Daniel Naroditsky. GM Naroditsky was a distinguished ambassador of chess—an exceptional player, teacher, commentator, and author—whose dedication, integrity, and love for the game inspired players of all ages and levels around the world. His contributions to chess education, sportsmanship, and community-building have left an enduring legacy that will continue to enrich the chess community for years to come. We mourn his loss and honour his memory.

I confirm receipt of, and I have read the numerous email petitions made to the EDC concerning the bullying campaign and alleged unfounded cheating claims directed at GM Naroditsky, even posthumously. I acknowledge your expressions of hurt and frustration.

I am aware of the impending referral of an official Photo credits: David Llada Complaint by the FIDE President and/or Management Board. The EDC takes these matters seriously and, once the Complaint is formally before the Commission, will act diligently and impartially, adhering to due process and exercising all reasonable powers available under the EDC Code to address the issue.

The EDC appreciates the community’s engagement and will provide updates as procedures allow. Our commitment remains to fairness, integrity, and the protection of all members of the chess community.
